What Is Alexithymia?

A Disconnect from Your Emotions

There’s a name for the way people struggle to connect with their emotions. It’s called “alexithymia” … which means “no words for emotions.”

People with alexithymia can show it in different ways. Some say they feel no emotion. Some are outwardly very emotional but don’t recognize it. Some find their emotions overwhelming and are often angry.

Here Dr. Neumann talks about what that might look like. See if it sounds familiar to you.
