UCLA Operation Mend provides advanced surgical and medical treatment, as well as comprehensive psychological-health support for post-9/11-era service members, veterans and their families at no cost. The program is available to eligible warriors injured during combat operations or while training for service. Operation Mend was established in 2007 as a groundbreaking partnership among UCLA Health, the United States military and the Department of Veterans Affairs to help heal the wounds of war.
Established in 1934, the San Francisco VA Medical Center (SFVAMC) has a long history of conducting cutting edge research, establishing innovative medical programs, and providing compassionate care to Veterans. The Medical Center has 104 operating beds and a 120-bed Community Living Center. Primary and mental health care is provided at outpatient clinics in: Clearlake, Santa Rosa, Eureka, Ukiah, and San Bruno. There is a specialized homeless Veterans clinic in downtown San Francisco.
Swords to Plowshares' legal services provide free legal consultation and attorney representation to veterans seeking assistance with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits and military discharge upgrade cases. Their services are targeted to address the needs of homeless and low-income veterans. All services are free of charge.

The VA Central California Health Care System's services include dental, geriatric/extended care (GEC), imaging, medicine, mental health, neurology & rehabilitation, nursing, nutrition, pathology & laboratory medicine, pharmacy, primary care, prosthetics and sensory aids, research, social work, surgery, and a women veterans health clinic.
VACCHCS consists of one inpatient facility located in Fresno (Fresno Medical Center), plus three outpatient clinics in Merced, Oakhurst and Tulare.
Since 1977, VA Loma Linda Healthcare System has been offering healthcare services more than 60,000 veterans living in the two-county area of San Bernardino and Riverside. In addition, it offers services in six community clinics located in Blythe, Corona, Murrieta, Palm Desert, Rancho Cucamonga, and Victorville.
The VA Long Beach Healthcare System consists of its main facility in Long beach, operating 237 hospital beds, 85 spinal cord beds, and 99 geriatric and nursing home beds. Services offered include dental, mental health, pharmacy, research, social work, and more.
In addition to the main facility in Long beach, it offers services in six community-based outpatient clinics located in Anaheim, Garden Grove, Laguna Hills, Villages At Cabrillo, Santa Ana, and Whittier/Santa Fe Springs.
The VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) offers a comprehensive array of medical, surgical, rehabilitative, mental health, and extended care to veterans in Northern California. The health system is comprised of a medical center in Sacramento, a rehabilitation and extended care facility in Martinez, and seven outpatient clinics.
The Sacramento Valley Division is comprised of medical facilities in Sacramento, Chico and Redding.
The VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) consists of three inpatient facilities located at Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Livermore, plus seven outpatient clinics in San Jose, Capitola, Monterey, Stockton, Modesto, Sonora, and Fremont. As a teaching hospital, VAPAHCS operates nearly 900 beds, including three nursing homes and a 100-bed homeless domiciliary, all to serve more than 85,000 enrolled veterans.
