Senior Chief Petty Officer Brian O'Rourke: Strengthening Family Relationships After a TBI

Brian O’Rourke, retired Navy chief petty officer, sustained traumatic brain injuries (TBI) from explosions in military training. Difficulty sleeping and irritability affected his relationships with family for years. He denied it for a while, but his family encouraged him to seek help at a military treatment facility. After O’Rourke was diagnosed with TBI, his family was able to understand his needs and worked together to help him cope.
