University Hospital

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at University Hospital offers acute care, and inpatient and outpatient services to patients of all ages who have sustained a brain injury (including traumatic brain injury, stroke, tumor and other kinds of brain injuries). The Inpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program is offered at the Rehabilitation Center on the 2nd floor of University Hospital. This service is for children and adults who require inpatient rehabilitation after illness or injury, and who still have significant medical concerns requiring hospital-based treatment. Patients are evaluated for admission by the hospital’s consultation service.

The Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program creates individualized treatment for patients who are struggling with changes in their functioning due to brain injury. The treatment team includes occupational, physical, recreational and speech therapists, as well as physicians, psychologists, a vocational rehabilitation counselor and a case manager. University Hospital also helps patients and families identify community-based support services.
