Northern California Traumatic Brain Injury Model System: Rehabilitation Research Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center

Since 1976, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center has provided categorical care in a Brain Injury program for inpatients and outpatients and was first an RSA, then a NIDRR-designated Model System for TBI since the inception of those programs. Now, SCVCM treats those with mild TBI, very severe injuries, and those transitioning into the community.

Also known as known as, "The Traumatic Brain Injury National Database", this project was funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. The Principal Investigators of the current TBI Model System Project are Jeffrey Englander, MD and Tamara Bushnik, PhD. The RRC staff continue to work closely with the clinical staff to enhance the care offered during inpatient rehabilitation, develop continuity of care after discharge, and conduct TBI & SCI-related research.
