Hospital for Special Care (HSC) is a private, not-for-profit 228-bed rehabilitation long-term acute and chronic care hospital, widely-known and respected for its expertise in physical rehabilitation (including outpatient rehabilitation), respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. Special programs for spinal cord injuries, pulmonary rehabilitation, acquired brain injuries, stroke, ventilator management and geriatrics, make HSC an important regional resource for patients with special healthcare needs. HSC offers cognitive and physical rehabilitation through a therapy program and individual and/or group treatment for patients with traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries. HSC also offers a Neurobehavioral Program for patients with Acquired-Brain Injuries (ABI) who have had ongoing behavioral problems that have interfered with successful community re-entry. The program consists of two secured units within the hospital and features individual and group treatment programs, as well as community re-integration activities.
