Helen Hayes Hospital offers rehabilitation services to patients with stroke, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, neurological, cardiopulmonary and orthopedic disorders. Helen Hayes Hospital's Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Rehabilitation Program provides inpatient, outpatient, and transitional rehabilitation services. Patients receive treatment from a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team under the direction of a board-certified physician who specializes in TBI. The team consists of physical, occupational and speech therapists, rehabilitation nurses, case managers, neuropsychologists, vocational counselors and other professionals. The program treats the effects of brain injury, such as difficulty walking, communicating, eating and dressing, limitations in memory and thinking skills and social, emotional and cognitive issues.
