Meeting the special needs of individuals with brain injury

By the year 2020, brain injury is expected to be the number one public health problem in the world. Due to the life-saving techniques of modern medicine, there is a large and growing population of individuals with brain injury.

Making a Difference is comprised of ten modules that illustrate the neuro-anatomy of a TBI and the everyday difficulties experienced by many brain injury survivors. The video was originally intended for the front-line staff of 2-1-1 Texas, the statewide informationa nd referral netowork for health and human services.

This instructional video offers useful tips for effective communication and for directing individuals, families, and loved ones to needed supports and services. The training is ideal for healthcare professionals, educators, policy makers, family members, and friends who want to understand the issues that challenge individuals with brain injury. In addition, the video includes a section that addreses the special needs of veterans with brain injury as well as a glance into the lives of a three people — and their families — living with brain injury.
