The Brain Injury Association of Louisiana (BIALA) is a non-profit organization that assists individuals with brain injury, and their families, with finding and obtaining services. BIALA also promotes prevention, awareness, research, pubic education, and advocacy.
Leesville Rehabilitation Hospital offers inpatient rehabilitation programs for patients who are medically stable and can benefit from rehabilitation in a hospital setting. The brain injury program treats patients with residual or late effect of open or closed head injury. The rehabilitation team includes a physician, rehabilitation nurse, physical and occupational therapists, as well as a speech and language pathologist and social worker.
Just one hour from Baton Rouge and New Orleans, NeuroRestorative’s Hammond location provides opportunities for participants to access a variety of community and city resources including the local gym, libraries and recreational activities as well as secondary education at nearby Southeast Louisiana University.Services include: Supported Living, Transitional Living, and Respite.
Rehabilitation services at West Jefferson Medical Center are provided to adult patients with neurological and other medical conditions who have experienced a loss of function in activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, or communication. The outpatient program is designed for individuals of all ages, while the inpatient program serves persons who are 18 years or older.
The Touro Rehabilitation Center offers treatment for individuals with head trauma at all stages of recovery. There are both inpatient and outpatient programs. The inpatient program focuses on regaining physical, cognitive, behavioral and social interaction skills, as well as achieving educational, vocational, social and/or leisure goals. The outpatient program provides treatments for individuals who have experienced traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, or other neurological impairments.
