Caron Gan is an Advanced Practice Nurse, Registered Psychotherapist, and Registered Marriage and Family Therapist with the Ontario and American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She is also a Certified Clinical Traumatologist and holds an Adjunct Lecturer Appointment at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto. Since 1991, she has worked at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital providing psychotherapeutic intervention to youth, adults, couples, and families living with the effects of brain injury. As an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, Caron provides clinical supervision and training around marital and family therapy intervention.

Caron is also cross appointed to the Bloorview Research Institute as a Clinical Team Investigator, where her primary research focuses on family interventions and family needs after pediatric brain injury. She has published several manuscripts in international peer-reviewed journals as well as several book chapters on Family Assessment and Intervention. As the primary developer of the Brain Injury Family Intervention for Adolescents (BIFI-A), she has conducted training in Canada, the US, and Europe on family intervention after brain injury. The BIFI-A intervention was designated a leading practice through Accreditation Canada and Caron has partnered with Swedish researchers to pilot a Swedish version of BIFI-A. Caron is also co-lead and co-developer of a 5-country validated Pediatric Family Needs Questionnaire [FNQ-P], a valid and reliable tool that consists of 40 items representing a range of family needs that may appear after a child or youth sustains an acquired brain injury (ABI).

In addition to these responsibilities, she juggles her time with a busy private practice that is dedicated to clients with brain injury and their families.
