The Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) is used inconsistently by researchers and medical professionals. Differences include timing, frequency, and the order in which the test is given. The authors of this literature review conclude that this reduces the reliability of this common tool. They recommend that professionals reach a consensus on how best to use the instrument.
